For some reason, I found that the funniest thing ever when I was 12.

A long-time friend of mine has been saying it for the decade I have known him. It was only a year or two back that I rewatched it and realised where he had taken it from.

It's like saying "Two Weeks" in that weird mongoloid voice from Total Recall.

For some reason I remember a violent video game called Smash TV, where the "announcer" would pop up in a little window periodically and say "I'd buy that for a dollar"...

I never was any good at that game...

Among my circle of friends, it was a generic expresison of appreciation.

"...and this new Osborne 386 has 2 megabytes of RAM!"
"Oooh! I'd buy that for a dollar!"

It eventually mutated, as such things so often do, spawning a superlative version ("I'd buy that for a dollar fifty!") and other such things.
