Tobor is appealing on many levels.
1. He's simple. Not only does he only speak in capital letters and with a very simple "grammar," he has a simple motivation. Cornhole. Repeatedly.
2. He's complex. Why does Tobor want to cornhole? What's his motivation? What's his backstory? Enquiring minds want to know. He *seems* simple, but there are endless ways to twist his character around.
3. He's powerful. Tobor knows what he wants and has the means to get it.
4. He's "edgy." Someone who can get away with sexually violating people repeatedly and yet remain funny and somehow sympathetic is somewhat out of the mainstream. Try explaining a Tobor cartoon to someone you've just met and watch them back away from you veerrry sloooowly. And you're unlikely to see a "Tobor The Cornholing Robot" series on HBO any time soon.
Well, that's my theory, anyway.
