What about hardcore fans who grew up with Transformers, have all episodes on DVD, have a ton of the toys, went to Botcon twice, and was even in a couple of fan groups, but aren't 30 yet, aren't men, and would rather have their teeth ripped out than live in the 80's or 90's again?

I would brave opening day for the new Transformers movie. Though I might go alone and in disguise.

1998 in Anaheim and 1999(?) in St. Paul. Since I was living in St. Paul at the time, it would have been a sacrelige not to go. I really wanted to hit Botcon 2005 because I heard they were doing some great stuff, but there was no way I could have afforded it.
